A note from the bride: The first thing that comes to mind was standing on the stage to give a toast to our family and friends. Seeing their faces will be cemented in my mind forever. The second thing that comes to mind, the little moments that surprised me throughout the day. People overwhelmed me with their generosity and love.
I was inspired by the home in Great Expectations. Unfussy, natural floral arrangements; antique urns as vases; smilax-adorned French chandeliers; candelabras covered in vines; and outdoor garden furniture were brought to life by Kelly Lenard of Intertwine floral, and linens were by La Tavola.
something old: On my wrist was a gift from my dad—18-karat gold doubloons [large coins thrown from floats during Mardi Gras] from The Rex Organization. He has been collecting them every year since the day I was born. He turned the doubloons into a charm bracelet and gave it to me on my 18th birthday.
something borrowed: Midway through dancing, I changed into a velvet dress with gold embroidery by Brock Collection, designed by my bridesmaid and CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund winner Laura Vassar Brock.
